Chairman’s News 2014

Dear Friends, Colleagues, Members,

It has been some time since my last post on our web-page and I realized that I have neglected to provide you with some updates related to our Association. First of all, I would like to say that the general field of organic geochemistry is in a very good shape. I was very impressed with this year Gordon Research Conference, the topics, organization and overall atmosphere were one of the most memorable. On the employment market, we are still in the period of very high demand for organic geochemists, which is not only connected with the solid industrial market but also a reflection of true diversification of our field. I can only say, that the future is bright.

Secondly, I would like to remind everyone to start sharpening your pencils and prepare abstracts for the 2015 IMOG that will take place in beautiful city of Prague. The IMOG web-page is already functioning ( thus please visit it to get the latest updates on abstract submission and registration. We expect that abstract submission deadline will be at the latest mid-January 2015, so it’s time to finish experiments and convert your findings on to paper. The Scientific Committee meeting will meet in Prague at the end of March to select an outstanding scientific programme, which should be posted on the IMOG web-page by end of April.

The Society is in a good shape with more than 300 members and I hope that by now, everyone has got used to the new registration page and welcomed some new additions such as ability to pay for 2 year’s membership. I would also like to remind you that in order to get the reduced membership rates for the IMOG, one has to be a member of the year preceding the IMOG conference as well as the year of the conference. I would also like to remind everyone that we are looking for ideas for the venue of the 2019 IMOG. Please do not hesitate to drop me an email if you have an exciting idea about the possible venue.

Please also provide the Board with any feedback, positive or ways we can improve the functioning of the EAOG.

I am looking forward to see many of you in less than a year in Prague.

Artur Stankiewicz
EAOG Chair
