January 2021: Call for candidates for a new EAOG Board member
The purpose of the EAOG Board is to grow and sustain activities which support the international Organic Geochemistry community, including but not limited to liaising with Elsevier, publishers of our signature journal Organic Geochemistry, evaluating and distributing various Awards, selecting the IMOG scientific committee and Treib’s medalist selection committee, organizing (with EAGE) the biennial international Congress, maintaining an on-line community space, and connecting our diverse community across industry and academia – all within a healthy and sustainable budget.
As elected volunteers, EAOG Board members serve for four years, with possibility for re-election one time.
In September 2021, the second term of Board member Bart van Dongen will end.
In accordance with the Articles of EAOG, other candidates may now stand for election.
Serving on the Board entails a commitment of 1-2 hours per month as well as quarterly Board meetings, and a biennial full day Board business meeting (typically held the day prior to the Biennial IMOG Congress).
Candidates must be EAOG members. They may apply by providing a declaration of their rationale and commitment, and CV. In addition, at least 7 EAOG members must send a brief supporting statement directly to the EAOG Secretary. EAOG is committed to Diversity and Inclusion, and especially invite candidates who enhance the perspective of the current Board.
In the case of new candidates, a vote by ballot will conducted for all EAOG members. If there are no additional candidates, there will be no ballot, and the current Board members will be re-elected during the General Assembly.
The results will be made public at the EAOG General Assembly in Montpellier in September 2020.
Candidate materials and nominations must be received by the EAOG secretary not later than 31st March 2020 at the following address (preferably by e-mail):
